About this Site

Introduction

This website is a personal project that I have been working on for a while. It is intended to be a more authentic and grounded place where people can find information about the Hanafi madhhab. The works I write here are based on the teachings of my mashaayikh (teachers) who are Hanafis, whether it be translating one of their lectures, or basing explanations on their understanding. The main goal of this website is to provide accurate and authentic information about the Hanafi madhhab, and to promote a better understanding of its principles and teachings. I ak Allaah that He makes this website a means of benefit for those who seek knowledge and guidance regarding the Hanafi madhhab, and that He accepts it from me and from all those who contribute to it.

Priority of Anonymity and Presenting the Truth

I hold anonymity and privacy in high regard, which is why I do not see any reason to share personal details which are not relevant to the content. The truth does not depend on who said it, but on evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the righteous generations. I avoid emphasizing personal credentials as if they add weight to what is said. As Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The truth is not known through men. Rather men are known through truth.”

The truth is what is supported by evidence, without regard to the number of those who accept it or the number of those who reject it. The truth is not measured by men, but rather men are measured by the truth. The mere aversion of those who reject it, or the love of those who agree with it, does not indicate the correctness or corruption of a statement. Every person’s words are subject to acceptance or rejection, except for the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him). This is because the infallibility is established for the Lawgiver alone. As for others, they are subject to a deficiency in knowledge and understanding that necessitates that their words be presented to the Lawgiver.

One may have reservations about taking from a random website, and that is perfectly understandable. I am not obliged to divulge information about my credentials, and neither are you obliged to take from me. That is why I emphasized that the criterion is the Quraan and the Sunnah, which is objective.

Methodology, Sources and Reason for Existence

Methodology and Sources

I do not consider myself a scholar or a person of knowledge. The content is based on lectures of my mashaayikh (who are Hanafis) or translations of existing works. Nothing is personal opinion. The main reason for not naming exactly who are my mashaayikh is that they are not available on the internet, and they do not have an online prescence. So what is the point in saying, for instance, I learned the work "نور الإيضاح و نجاة الأرواح" under the guidance of the shaykh Muhiyy ad-Deen (may Allaah preserve him)? Googling that name will not yield any results.

We affirm the Qur'an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf (Sahaabah, Tabi'een, and those after them). We acknowledge all four madhhabs as acceptable and valid to follow. I follow the Hanafi Madhhab which I have been studying for under a decade through the guidance of my mashaayikh. The general understanding of this website should be upon the furoo' and usool of the Hanafi madhhab, unless stated otherwise. Our 'Aqeedah is upon Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, which is also the creed of our Imams. We affirm everything upon the understanding of Ahlus-Sunnah in the famous treatise of Imam Abu Ja'far at-Tahaawi (may Allaah have mercy on him). In it, he stated:

This is a clear presentation of the creed of Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jama'ah, according to the way of the jurists of the religion, Abu Haneefah an-Nu'maan ibn Thaabit al-Kufi, Abu Yoosuf Ya'qoob ibn Ibraheem al-Ansaari and Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ash-Shaybaani, may Allaah be pleased with them all, and what they believe regarding the fundamentals of the religion and their faith in the Lord of the worlds.

Therefore, what we believe and call towards is what the imams of this madhhab believed in and called towards.

Reason for Existence

One may ask, "Why create this website when there are already many other websites and resources available?" The reason is that I have found that many of the existing resources which people go to for the Hanafi Madhhab such as Islamqa.org, askimam.org, Seekersguidance.org, and others, have considerable issues.

Firstly, these sites do not belong to, nor do they follow the principles, foundations and methodology of Ahlus-Sunnah wa'l Jama'ah. Rather, they promote the Ahlul-Kalaam on whose misguidance the righteous generations were agreed upon, which includes the imams of this madhhab. It is sufficient to quote from Imam Abu Yoosuf (may Allaah have mercy on him) who stated, "Whoever seeks the religion through Al-Kalaam (theological rhetoric) becomes a heretical apostate." (Source)

Secondly, a lot of their answers do not align with the Hanafi madhhab either. Sometimes, they give their own opinions and views foreign to the madhhab and tag it answered as "Hanafi Fiqh", or worse, they give weak and rejected positions, or misconstrue the words of the fuqaha'. In sha Allaah, I will compile these errors and make them available when I get the time to do so.

Hence, I felt the need to create this website, aiming for it to be more in line with the principles and methodology of Ahlus-Sunnah wa'l Jama'ah, and that presents the Hanafi madhhab in a more accurate and authentic manner. I ak Allaah that He makes this website a beneficial resource for those who are seeking knowledge and guidance regarding the Hanafi madhhab.
